Knife Laws

Why is There an Age Restriction on Certain Products?

It is against the law to sell a knife to anyone under the age of 18. We are just following the law to prevent you and ourselves from any trouble with the police. See below for the laws on knives.

Basic Knife Laws:

It is illegal to:

* sell a knife of any kind (including cutlery and kitchen knives) to anyone under 18
* carry a knife in public without good reason - unless it’s a knife with a folding blade 3 inches long (7.62 cm) or less, eg a Swiss Army knife
* carry, buy or sell any type of banned knife (the list of banned knives is below)
* use any knife in a threatening way (even a legal knife, such as a Swiss Army knife)

How we can Check for Age:

We use a system linked with the electoral register to perform a check to gather information. The card holder or person buying the item is usually on the list with an age range. If we find you on our system and we are satisfied with the result, we can send out the order. Otherwise, we will contact you with the contact details provided to obtain proof of age.

The proof of age can be any I.D. such as Driving License, Passport, Credit Card Statement (Only Name and Address needed).
